First look at Harry Styles and The Crown’s Emma Corrin in gay romance drama – Digital Spy
Harry Styles and The Crown‘s Emma Corrin appear in a first look at their new gay romance movie, My Policeman.
Prime Video have released the first stills of the Greg Berlanti-produced film, adapted from a book of the same name by Bethan Roberts.
The story is set in Brighton in 1957 and follows a policeman named Tom Burgess, played by Styles, who is secretly gay, as he lives in a society where it’s illegal to be so. Burgess begins dating a schoolteacher, Marion (Corrin) but embarks on a secret love affair with a museum curator, Patrick Hazelwood (David Dawson).
Forced to repress his true feelings, he decides to marry Marion, and as tensions rise between the married couple, Patrick’s life ends up in chaos.

Additionally, My Policeman jumps between two time periods: the 1950s, which sees Tom navigate the love triangle in their youth, and 40 years later. Here, an older Tom (played by Linus Roache) and Marion’s (Gina McKee) strained married life becomes more complicated when she agrees to take in Patrick (Rupert Everett) after suffering a stroke.
Director Michael Grandage revealed to Vanity Fair the casting of the Don’t Worry Darling star came from Styles’ enthusiasm reading the script.
“He had read the script so many times that he knew every single beat of it at that meeting. I found that incredibly impressive,” said Grandage. “He knew other people’s lines; he knew all of his lines. He knew why he wanted to talk about it, why one scene worked this way and another worked,” he added.

Meanwhile, Styles recently opened up about filming intimate scenes for his two latest projects – My Policeman and Don’t Worry Darling – joking that he’s going to have to make more family-friendly movies in future: “I don’t know if you can watch either with your parents. I’m gonna have to do another one.
“It was all discussed and all of it was very kind of, ‘OK… above the filming, above everything that’s happening with the cameras, with me and you, we’re doing this together, we trust each other and at any point we can stop and all that kind of stuff.'”
My Policeman will premiere October 21 in UK cinemas and November 4 on Prime Video.
