First Ever Gay Pride Parade and Festival in Abilene, Texas – 1470kyyw.com
Abilene may still be in the dark ages in many areas, but we just may be crawling out from the dark in others as the first-ever Pride Parade and Festival has just been announced.
According to the Abilene Pride Alliance, the parade will take place in Downtown Abilene at 2 PM on Saturday, September 24th. Following the parade, everyone will migrate over to Festival Gardens, by the zoo, for the rest of the festivities.
There will be “vendors, musical entertainment, and events leading into” the evening Drag Show.
Bust out the bright wigs, tutus, and rainbow gear! We are beyond excited to celebrate our community by showing up and showing out in our best PRIDE apparel. [Abilene Pride Alliance]
If you have any further questions about this event, you can email Abilene Pride Alliance for more information. You can also visit their Facebook page to find out about other events that Abilene Pride Alliance is hosting or helping with this year.
Abilene Pride Alliance is a nonprofit organization that is committed to connecting, coordinating, and advancing the LGBTQIA+ community in Abilene and the Big Country.
I, for one, am 100% supportive of this parade and festival and truly hope more in our community will learn to break bread with those that may be a little different. It’s about time we showed everyone in our community support, not just those with big wallets, big hairdos, and big hats.
