It’s June, which means Pride Month is here. Pride Month, which celebrates the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community, is observed each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States.
Celebrations in the Louisville area include pride parades, festivals, brunch, readings, run/walk and more. Here’s how you can celebrate:

WHAT: Celebrate the diversity of the region with this competition. Contestants with strut their stuff for votes ($1 for 1 vote). A panel of professional drag queens making preliminary judgments of performances, but the winners will be choose by the audience. Proceeds to benefit Vulnerable Adult Care Advocates, Inc.

Robley Rex Veterans Affairs Medical Center 7th Annual Pride Fest
WHAT: The festival celebrates the LGBTQ+ community and builds connections among veterans, their families, staff, and the community. Features DJ TK, drag shows (1 and 2:30 pm.), Drag Queen Storytime Kentucky, light refreshments, health resource information, VA swag, speakers and more.

Mile Wide Beer Co. ‘Dorothy’s Riot’ beer release
WHAT: Mile Wide Beer Company will release Dorothy’s Riot, a beer brewed in collaboration with Queer Kentucky. Dorothy’s Riot is a 6% ABV India Pale Ale, brewed with Citra & Enigma hops. Also at the event, Volunteers of America will offer free HIV testing, Queer DJs spinning throughout the day, Drag Show (7 p.m.) and Louisville Silent Disco (9 p.m. to midnight).

Pride Month Reading Celebration

Louisville Pride 5K Run/Walk
WHAT: The 5K is a family-friendly event for people of all ages, athletic abilities, and skill levels. The virtual 5K is available for those not able to attend the in-person 5K but still want to support LPF. Complete the 5K walk/run over the course of race weekend.
