Estil Gay age 95 of Hamilton, Ohio formerly of Albia, Iowa, passed away Saturday August 20,2022

surrounded by his loved ones, under the care of Hospice.

Estil was born December 7,1926 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Gerald and Vonnetta Gay. He was the

second of 3 children. He grew up in Oskaloosa area and Monroe County near Albia. He attended

Moravia High School where he met Boneita McDanel and they were united in marriage May 12, 1946 and had two children Sharon and Earl. They were married 76 years.

Estil farmed his farm and done custom farming for others in the Albia area until retiring in October of 2001 after 54 years of farming. When grandchildren were smaller enjoyed taking them each year on vacation to the Ozarks. They also enjoyed traveling in their motor home and spending winters in Laughlin, Nevada. He and wife Boneita move into town, not loving living in town, his love was for farming and his cattle that would always come meet him every-time they heard him coming to the pasture.  While living in town, missing farm life he would appear at Paul Ammon’s farm to help him after awhile Paul told him if he going to continue coming to help, I’ve got  have to pay you, Estils  reply was how about 5.00 hr., Paul response was you’re worth 3 times that you’re the best hired hand I’ve got not to say how much you’ve taught me, Estils reply was you pay me the 5.00 and put the rest in  the offering plate on Sunday. A deal was made. That was the type of person Estil was always ready to help someone.   In 2009 they moved to Ohio to be near daughter and grandchildren.

Estil was a member of the Masonic Temple in Moravia, Iowa. Member of Farm Bureau and received

farming awards through the years. Helped with 4-H clubs in Monroe Co.  He was a member of the

Christian Church in Albia.

Estil is survived by his wife Boneita, a sister May Childs of Arizona, his daughter Sharon (Jim) Knapp of Hamilton, Oh. and three grandchildren, Stacy(Heidi) Chidester of Hamilton, Oh., Lori (Marc) Watson of Union, Ky., Carrie(Todd) MacLean of Kansas City, Mo. ; 7 grandchildren Grace Watson, Oliver Watson, Eleanor Watson, Shelby Chidester, Parker Day, Matthew Schwartz, Jacob Schwartz.

Estil was proceeded in death by his parent, a sister Ella Rogers and a son Earl Gay.

A service will be held at the Weigel Funeral Home Saturday August 27,2022 in Hamilton,Ohio.

 A memorial service will also be held at a future date at the Moravia Cemetery
