Emily Stowe Gay, age 89, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021. Born in Halifax County, NC on October 22, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Daniel “Pat” Riley Stowe and Ethel Daniel Stowe. She was also preceded in death by her son, Aaron Green Gay, Jr.; and her brother, William “Buddy” Frances Stowe. Emily was a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She dedicated many years to the care and comfort of her son, Kent, whom also lived in the family home. She was a beautician for over 60 years working from her own beauty salon. Emily never missed an opportunity to speak for the Lord and her quiet yet firm testimony for Christ touched many lives. A woman of great faith, she was a charter member of Christ Fellowship Church where she also taught Sunday School for many years. A cherished soul, Emily will be dearly missed and never forgotten. Emily is survived by her husband Aaron Green Gay, Sr.; son, Kent Stowe Gay; daughter-in-law, Marcia Gay; granddaughters, Sierra and Jamie Gay; brothers, Dan Stowe (Brenda), Jerry Stowe (Dot), and Bruce Stowe (Evelyn); sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Lois Stowe Cummings and Velma Williams; and many nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service to celebrate Emily’s life will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Chapel on the Hill Mausoleum with Rev. Daniel Peede officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service at the Mausoleum. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the family is requesting the need for social distancing and wearing of masks due to health concerns faced around our nation at this time. The family would like to say a special thanks to Hospice of Nash General and to all of those who have cared for Emily to include Dr. Douglas Boyette, Debbie Stilley, Kelly Parker, Sara Warren, Takita Boulware, Carole Williams, and Terri Wilson.
