Dutch queen meets LGBT community in San Francisco – Waco Tribune-Herald
Queen Maxima of the Netherlands visited San Francisco and met with members of the LGBT community on Tuesday as part of a royal visit to California. The queen met with San Francisco Mayor London Breed at City Hall before they visited the city’s Castro District, long know for its gay community. The queen and her delegation stopped by the GLBT Historical Society Museum and Castro Theater before meeting with community members at the Twin Peaks Tavern. During her California visit, the queen is also meeting with Gov. Gavin Newsom and visiting Stanford University and visiting Google headquarters in Mountain View, according to her itinerary. After California, she plans to travel to Texas to visit Austin and Houston. Her husband, King Willem-Alexander, was originally scheduled to make the trip but had to cancel because he is recovering from pneumonia.
