A Gay Street staple is leaving downtown Knoxville to set up shop elsewhere, and you can take advantage of a massive sale before it leaves.

Pioneer House of Letterpress and Vintage Clothing has operated at 413 S. Gay St. for 25 years. The studio and shop are now moving a mile away into a smaller storefront, according to an announcement on its website.

Owners Julie Belcher and Phil Rupp are busy preparing for the move, but will provide more details soon.

“I am not closing my shop – I will continue to have my Pioneer House Press but this is a chance for me to pass along my knowledge and treasures to other printmakers,” the announcement read.

As part of the move, Pioneer House is holding a sale starting Friday and running through Sept. 16. Items include art prints, posters, envelopes, antique cabinets, letter press equipment, Native American jewelry and vintage clothing.

Belcher in the announcement thanked several printers in Tennessee and other states for helping her in “reviving a lost art.”
