DeMar DeRozan, Rudy Gay say their goodbyes to San Antonio, Spurs – mySA
DeMar DeRozan and Rudy Gay are leaving San Antonio, but not before sharing few thank you messages for the city and the Spurs.
Within the span of a few hours on Tuesday, the DeRozan, Gay and Patty Mills inked deals with the Chicago Bulls, Utah Jazz and Brooklyn Nets, respectively.
Mills, who is currently representing Australia in the Tokyo Olympics, has been mum about his exit on social media. He shared an Instagram post on Wednesday honoring the inspiration he gets from his country. On Thursday, he and the Boomers will play Team USA, led by his now former Coach Gregg Popovich.
DeRozan and Gay each took a moment to reflect on their time in San Antonio with Instagram posts.
“I want to take the time to thank the Spurs organization and the fans in San Antonio for embracing me the way that they have over the past 3 seasons,” DeRozan’s post says. “The Spurs lived up to their reputation as one of the classiest organizations in the league during my time with the team. I’m grateful for the times I shared with my teammates, our coaches and staff. THANK YOU!”
Gay’s post mirrors the love: “Man, what a ride, Shout out to my Spurs family and to the city of San Antonio. The past years have been an unforgettable journey & I enjoyed every moment. Thank you to everyone who’s been part of it. Excited for what’s next!”
