Conspiracy theorist who wrote ‘Jews and gays are grey aliens’ on bus stop cleared of racial hatred – Daily Mail

A conspiracy theorist who wrote ‘Jews and gays are grey aliens‘ on a bus stop during a graffiti campaign has been cleared of stirring up racial hatred.

Nicholas Lalchan, 48, used a black marker pen to vandalise 17 bus stops across northwest London, causing £100 worth of damage each time.

Lalchan earlier admitted having an article with intent to cause criminal damage.

Meanwhile, he denied but was convicted of the charge of stirring up racial hatred following his first trial in 2021.

However, the conviction was later quashed for legal reasons at the Court of Appeal and Lalchan was finally cleared of the offence by a jury, following a retrial at Aldersgate House crown court in central London.

The jury failed to reach a verdict against him on a charge of racially or religiously aggravated criminal damage and the count was dropped by the prosecution.

Canadian Lalchan scrawled the words ‘Jews and gays are grey aliens’ on a bus stop in 2019.

Speaking to jurors, he said: ‘I’m a Christian, I’m not happy with gay, LGBT agenda, especially what they’re trying to do in schools.

‘In Scotland children as young as four can determine what gender they want to be. I don’t agree with this stuff. I’m a Christian and it goes against my religion.’

Prosecutor David Patience told the latest trial: ‘It is not in dispute that Mr Lalchan wrote the graffiti on the bus stops. He admitted that in the witness box.

‘That written material was clearly threatening, abusive or insulting.

‘The most obvious example I suggest is the phrase ”Jews and gays are grey aliens”.

‘What he is trying to do is to convert people to his way of thinking – to stir up new attitudes, new feelings in those who read his graffiti.

‘You can safely reject the assertion that he was subject to mind control when daubing the graffiti. Such assertions are the stuff of science fiction, with no basis in reality.’

Mr Patience added: ‘Hatred of Jews is part and parcel of his belief system in relation to the new world order.’

The prosecutor informed the court that antisemitic cartoons had been found downloaded onto his computer.

‘He is not on trial for those images. There is no suggestion that he ever distributed them’, said Kerry Moore, defending.

‘There is no threat of violence to any community in those writings, no encouragement to attack anyone, nothing of that nature.

‘He puts Jews and gays together. That is not an ethnic group. Gays are not an ethnic group.’

The graffiti started appearing on various bus stops in northwest London in March 2019.

Jurors were shown photographs of the graffiti written over the plastic coverings of bus timetables and maps.

‘The graffiti differed slightly from bus stop,’ said Mr Patience. ‘It referred, the prosecution say, to bizarre conspiracy theories.’

Much of the graffiti refers to conspiracy theories and ‘encouraged people to search on YouTube and Google to find out about them’, said Mr Patience.

These include ‘the Rothchild Trillions’, ‘Talmud quotes about the Goyim’, ‘child rape assembly line’, and ‘Rabbi Nuchem Rosenberg interview’.

Other messages said: ‘Arrest warrant for the Queen and the Pope’ and ‘beware malevolent aliens e.g. Jews and gays’.

Mr Patience commented: ‘This graffiti was daubed on bus stops in areas of northwest London, which the prosecution suggest have large Jewish communities, such as Edgware, Hendon, Finchley.

‘It was seen by Jewish people, and others, who were distressed by what they saw and reported it to the police.’

Police obtained CCTV footage of a man vandalising a bus stop at 3:30am and the images were circulated. A police community support officer recognised Lalchan.

He was caught as he was leaving his house carrying black marker pen and leaflets with similar messages to the bus stop graffiti.

Meanwhile, when police searched his address they found more leaflets, marker pens, maps of bus routes and a USB stick containing pictures which made references to Jewish people and conspiracy theories.

Lalchan was interviewed under caution and charged at the police station. He responded: ‘New world order, the fourth Reich, you’ll see.’

He told the court it was too late to stop the New World Order, and all there was left to do was turn to Jesus Christ.

‘We’re in the trap and they’re closing the lid. They’re in control of the finances, in control of Facebook, the media,’ he said.

‘As a Christian, Jesus Christ is my messiah so I’m trying to get people who don’t believe in God.

‘We cannot stop them, it’s unstoppable, the only thing you can do is accept it’s here already. Your only hope is to turn to God through Jesus Christ.’

He added that the New World Order is ‘a socialist, communist kind of thing’ which is ‘in control of the world’s economy, control the money, and control the people’.

‘I think it is a satanic entity, it’s an antichrist movement. I’m a Christian. It’s verging on evil to tell you the truth.’

Lalchan made more claims including one that Pope Francis is leading a ‘Satanic cult’ which involves paedophilia and ritual killings.

Mr Moore, defending, said Lalchan genuinely holds beliefs and that his issue was with religion rather than race.

‘If it was truly his motivation to combat and deal with a new world order to convert people to Christianity then his intention was not to stir up racial hatred,’ he said.

‘His obsession is religious not racial.’

Lalchan, of Woodlands Road, Edmonton, admitted having an article with intent to cause criminal damage.

Lalchan denied and was cleared by the jury of stirring up racial hatred earlier today.

The jury failed to reach a verdict against him on a charge of racially or religiously aggravated criminal damage and that count was dropped by the prosecution.

Lalchan was bailed ahead of sentence on March 13.
