Wales legend Gareth Thomas being sued in Britain’s High Court for allegedly “deceptively” transmitting HIV to a former partner.
The 48-year-old has been accused by Ian Baum of hiding his HIV status when they were a couple then and “failing to take reasonable care” to ensure that he did not pass on the infection.
By law, HIV carriers can be charged with grievous bodily harm if they fail to declare their status to potential sexual partners and pass on the infection.
The claim, which will be heard at the high court, is for at least £150,000 in damages, though could be higher for ‘serious physical and psychological injury’.
Thomas is expected to vigorously defend the case. Read the entire story in The Times.
