I know, it sounds like I’m dumping all the concessions on the trans community, throwing them overboard, as it were. But if the Equality Act passes, members of the transgender community, like all LGBT people, will still get a law that improves their daily lives by prohibiting employers from making hiring or firing decisions based on “sexual orientation or gender identity,” and ensuring equal access to stores, restaurants, mortgage lenders, hotels, apartments and doctors.
