Christmas House 2 Is Making the Yuletide Gay Again For Hallmark

It’s an early merry Christmas for fans of the Hallmark Channel, as the network announced today that a sequel to The Christmas House, Hallmark’s first original Christmas movie featuring a same-sex couple, will be coming out this holiday season!

The sequel, tentatively titled The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Halls, brings back the original cast, including Jonathan Bennett and Brad Harder, who played the adorable couple in the first film. Other cast members returning include Robert Buckley, Ana Ayora, Treat Williams, and Sharon Lawrence.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the new sequel will see “the Mitchell brothers (Bennett and Buckley) compete to see who can create the best Christmas House.”

Bennett has been posting about his excitement for the project on social media, posting pics of himself with the cast. “Huge news! The Mitchell Family is Back!!!” he wrote on Instagram. “The same family, same love, but twice the hilarity. Buckle up, this sleigh is taking off!”

In case you’ve forgotten, the original Christmas House saw the two brothers returning home for the holidays at the request of their mother as they prepare to sell the family home. While Buckley’s character, Mike, finds himself reconnecting with his high school sweetheart, Brandon (Bennett) comes home with his husband Jake, as the couple are awaiting a call about the adoption of their first child.

The Christmas House 2 is a part of the Hallmark Channel’s impressive 41 new Christmas movies coming out this year. While we don’t know when The Christmas House 2 will air, the first of the 41 films premiere on October 22, giving fans two whole months of Christmas movies!
