Chiefs activate LB Willie Gay Jr. amid flurry of roster moves Saturday – KSHB
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs activated second-year linebacker Willie Gay Jr. from injured reserve Saturday.
He missed the first four games of the season with a toe injury suffered in training camp. Gay is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.
The linebacker was excused from practice on Friday for personal reasons, according to head coach Andy Reid.
Later Friday afternoon, Gay tweeted from his personal account that his mental health was the cause for his absence.
His status and availability for Sunday Night Football’s rematch of the AFC Championship Game remained uncertain.
To make room for Gay on the roster, the Chiefs waived linebacker Darius Harris.
Kansas City also announced that it had activated defensive end Demone Harris from the practice squad via standard elevation.
Heading into Sunday’s game, the Chiefs also listed defensive end Chris Jones (wrist) and cornerback Charvarius Ward (quad) as questionable. Ward has missed the last two games.
