‘Cannibal’ teacher goes on trial accused of killing and eating his date – The Times

A maths and science teacher has gone on trial in Berlin today charged with killing and eating a man he had met on a date to satisfy his “sadistic-cannibalistic sexual desires”.

The case is the most lurid episode of suspected cannibalism in Germany since the infamous “Master Butcher” of Rotenburg, who cooked and dined on an engineer with his victim’s consent in 2001.

It revolves around the disappearance of Stefan Trogisch, 44, an overhead power line technician who was reported missing by his flatmates last September.

Two months later a pair of dog walkers found one of Trogisch’s femurs, stripped of any flesh, in a forest on the northern outskirts of the capital.
