Calvary’s Hutch Grace wins Shreveport-area preseason fans’ choice football player of the year – Shreveport Times
Calvary defensive back Hutch Grace topped 40 athletes from 40 Shreveport-Bossier City area football teams to win the 2022 Times Fas’ Choice Player of the Year recognition.
Grace and his supporters amassed 49,609 votes (30.4%) of the 163,330 votes cast to garner the honor. Finishing a strong second was St. Mary’s quarterback Adam Parker, who brought in 41,189 votes (25.2%) in the online-only voting. Arcadia’s GeAuntre Nelson was third with 15,629 votes.
Supporters of the schools and athletes visited shreveporttimes.com to vote from Sunday morning through Thursday night.
Grace will be presented a sports duffel bag with a Raising Cane’s boxed lunch gift card courtesy of Raising Cane’s, the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission and The Times.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Grace was one of the top tacklers in the area last season with 55. The junior is ready to lead the Cavaliers back to the state championship game after he was part of the Cavs’ 2020 title team.
“Hutch is a very hard worker who just loves to play the game of football,” Calvary coach Rodney Guin said. “He’s a great tackler with the skills to cover also.”
