Bridgerton and AHS stars get intimate in set pic from new gay drama series – Digital Spy

Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey and American Horror Story‘s Matt Bomer enjoy a cuddle on the beach in the first shot from gay drama Fellow Travelers.

A Showtime series, this show adapts Thomas Mallon’s 2007 novel, with Bailey filling the role of Tim Laughlin and Bomer as Hawkins Fuller.

It’s described as a “love story and political thriller, chronicling the volatile romance of two very different men who meet in the shadow of McCarthy-era Washington”.

Bailey, who plays Anthony Bridgerton in the aforementioned Netflix period drama, will bring to life “a young man brimming with idealism and religious faith” here, while Bomer’s charismatic Hawkins likes to avoid emotional entanglements despite his successful political career.

The duo’s paths intertwine over the course of four decades, as they attempt to negotiate the anti-LGBTQ+ obstacles of society.

President of Entertainment at Showtime Networks, Jana Winograde, had this to say ahead of filming: “As a thrilling and deeply moving exploration of character and American life in the latter half of the past century, Fellow Travelers shines an unprecedented light on stories that are as urgent today as ever.

“The series delivers us directly into an insider world of Washington rife with national consequences, while drawing out the intimate moments that are profoundly personal and often heartbreaking.”

No doubt bringing some of his experiences to the Fellow Travelers set, Bailey previously weighed in on shooting Bridgerton sex scenes.

“If there are two people doing a sex scene, the rule is they must have three barriers separating them and there are certain acts where a half-inflated netball can allow for movement without having to connect physically.

“It’s pretty silly really and we have some hilarious moments, but it makes it less awkward,” he revealed.

Bridgerton seasons 1-2 are streaming now on Netflix. Season 3 is in production.
