Boneita Gay age 93 of Hamilton, Ohio formerly of Albia, Iowa, passed away

Friday October 21, 2022, under the care of Hospice.

Boneita was born March 12,1929 in Moravia, Iowa to Gaylord and Phyllis McDanel.

Was the oldest of 3 children. She was a graduate of Moravia High School class of 1946.

Boneita met Estil though school and were married May 12, 1946 and had 2 children

Sharon and Earl. They celebrated 76 years of marriage in May before Estil’s passing in August.

Boneita and Estil moved on to a family farm just south of Albia. Boneita enjoyed gardening and canning for the family. She was a wonderful cook, everyone always loved her food and could hardly wait till next get together to experience a new salad or dessert. She was always busy cooking or doing her quilting which were all done totally by hand, what a piece of art they truly were. She did sell a few but each family member have theirs. Boneita did work in town after kids were older, first at a women’s clothing store then when to Peoples State Bank, she stated many times how she loved her job at the bank which she retired from. After retirement loved to travel in their motor home and spending time with grandchildren who were all such important part of her life.

Boneita is survived by daughter Sharon (Jim) Knapp of Hamilton, Ohio and 3 grandchildren, Stacy (Heidi) Chidester of Hamilton, Ohio., Lori (Marc) Watson of Union, Ky., Carrie (Todd) MacLean of Kansas City, Mo. 7 great grandchildren Grace Watson, Oliver Watson, Eleanor Watson, Shelby Chidester, Parker Day, Matthew Schwartz, Jacob Schwartz.

Boneita was proceeded in death by her husband, a son Earl Gay, both parents, 2 brothers’ Richard and Leon McDanel.

A service will be held at Weigel Furneral Home Thursday October 27th at 2:00.

Then a celebration of life service for both Estil and Boneita will be held Monday October 31th at 11:00

at Moravia Hill Crest Cemetery along with the cremation burial, Rev. Linda Carlson officiating.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to First Christian Church in Albia, Iowa
