Big L.A. sports guy Max Homa swapped “jerseys” with kicker Matt Gay after the Rams’ win on Sunday – GolfDigest.com
“Big L.A. Sports Guy” is a bit of an oxymoron. Sure, you have your Lakers weirdos like Jack Nicholson and your Dodgers stans like Tiger Woods, but for the most part La La Land is a little too checked out for intense sports fandom. This has played out in real-time over the past couple of years as the Rams and Chargers have struggled to fill SoFi Stadium with their own colors, but one high(ish)-profile die-hard is leading the charge of a new generation of SoCal sports maniacs. His name is Max Homa. Perhaps you’ve heard of him.
So obviously the Dodgers’ NLDS didn’t pan out the way Homa was hoping, but that didn’t dim his enthusiasm. On Sunday night, he showed up for the Rams’ home tilt against the hapless Panthers and watched as the defending Super Bowl champs limped through the first half, trailing 10-3 at the break. That prompted a fleeting moment of doubt, but thankfully Homa held his nerve.
After the game, his faith was rewarded with a jersey swap with Rams kicker Matt Gay, who gifted Homa his game-worn no. 8. We’re not sure what Homa provided in exchange, but let’s hope it was the shirt from his wild, hail-mary victory at the Fortinet Championship a few weeks back. That would look pretty great framed above the mantle.
If you’re still questioning Homa’s L.A. sports commitment after all of that, hours after getting back from the Rams game (LA traffic, bruh), he was seen boarding a cross-country flight to the CJ Cup:
Needless to say, the dude bleeds Rams blue.
