After developing AstraZeneca vaccine, Jenner Institute sets its sights on beating HIV – The Times

Vaccine trials to protect the world against HIV will start within weeks, as the technology used for Covid-19 leads to the biggest advance against Aids since it emerged 40 years ago.

A team at Oxford University’s Jenner Institute, which developed the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine, is to start phase one trials of an HIV injection in the UK, Kenya, Zambia and Uganda by the end of this month. Like the AstraZeneca Covid-19 jab, the HIV vaccine uses a genetically modified chimpanzee adenovirus to transport genetic code into the body.
