Actress Rebecca Balding Dead at 73 – Parade Magazine
Daytime TV and film actress, Rebecca Balding, has died. She was 73.
Her husband, actor and director James L. Conway told Deadline that Balding died following a battle with ovarian cancer in Park City, Utah.
The actress was best known for her role as Carol David–a young woman who becomes a surrogate mother for a gay child (played by Billy Crystal)–in ABC‘s Soap and recurring roles as Elise Rothman (Phoebe/Alyssa Milano‘s boss) and Aunt Jackie and in the WB hit Charmed.

But her resume also showcases supporting acts across a slew of popular family TV shows and TV movies from the late ’70s to early 2000s; including the 1979 sitcom Makin’ It, MacGyver, Tim Allen‘s Home Improvement, 7th Heaven, ER, and many more.

According to IMDB, Balding was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on Sept. 21, 1948 (a Virgo!) and she began her TV acting career in the 1970s before starring in a few horror flicks during the late ’70s and early ’80s.

She played a college student heroine in the slasher film The Silent Scream (1979) which author Richard Nowell cited as one of the most financially successful independent horror films of the 1970s in his book Blood Money: A History of the First Teen Slasher Film Cycle; and Trish Michaels, a young woman terrorized by monsters in the creature feature The Boogens (1981)–on the set of which Balding also met her husband.
Balding is survived by two daughters and her husband.
