A News Outlet Fired a Gay Weatherman for Appearing on an Adult Cam Site – Them

“I’d like to say something to the News Directors across the country—those who will make the ultimate decision on whether or not to hire me in the future: Please judge me on the hundreds, thousands of hours of television that I am so proud of and that my employers have always commended me for, and not the couple of minutes of salacious video that is probably going to define me in our ‘click-bait’ culture.”

Spectrum News declined to comment for this story when Them reached out by phone.

Less than 24 hours after posting his note, Adame has received over 4,000 likes. Several commenters bemoaned that Adame was being fired for something he does in his private life.

“You have nothing to be ashamed of. I’m so sorry you’re going through this,” one commenter wrote. “I don’t understand why anyone would be fired for what they do in their private time. Spectrums loss.”

Another commenter added: “I don’t understand how consensual, after-hours, non-compensated activities are any concern of Spectrum’s — infuriating :/”

As reported by the Daily Beast, court documents showed that Spectrum News caught wind of Adame’s cam account after an anonymous user sent nude pictures of Adame to his employer. The user “wrongfully disseminated the images” to the news outlet, as well as Adame’s mother, “with the intent of harassing, annoying, or alarming” the meteorologist and “torturously interfering” with his job. Adame, a two-time Emmy nominee, has been a meteorologist on NY1 for about four years. According to The Daily Beast, he is asking a Manhattan judge to force the owners of the cam site to identify the people who leaked the images.

The site is identified in the court documents as Unit 4 Media, Ltd., however the name of the site is not listed. The Daily Beast did, however, uncovered that the camming site LPSG.com tells its users that it will appear as Unit 4 Media on any bank statements. According to The Daily Beast, the images come from someone who took screenshots of Adame while they were on video chat. The filing says the user had multiple accounts on the site, with the names Sonal Prehonn, Tommysize29, Funtimes99, and Landenboy227.

An attorney for Unit 4 Media and LPSG told The Daily Beast in an email that, “Our client’s policy is to comply with lawfully issued subpoenas. Capturing and disseminating user content without consent violates our client’s Terms of Service and forum Rules, which may result in a suspension or banning of the offending accounts.”

We hope to see Adame back on the air soon.
