Victor Willis, the only original member still with the group, offered a more forceful statement in June, amid growing protests over the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Willis took issue with Trump’s controversial tweet, in which he used the term “thugs” to describe protesters and said “when the looting starts, the shooting starts.” Twitter announced that the tweet had violated the platform’s rules about glorifying violence and only made it available for view “in the public interest.”
