Rock Island resident and Warren County native Yalta Jane Gay, 77, was born May 5, 1945 and died Aug. 30 at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville following a brief illness.           

A retired secretary from the Oster Corp. and a member of Corinth Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Glennie and Pauline Sauls Gay.  She was married to Vernice Dunlap of Rock Island, Tenn. on May 23, 1992. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers Ernest and Dewey Gay, step-son-in-law Rick Wilson, and father-in-law and mother-in-law W.T. “Toome” and Louvene Dunlap.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Dunlap is survived by son Alan (Kim) Young of Rock Island, step-daughter Sandy Wilson of McMinnville, step-son Billy (Cristie) Dunlap of Rock Island, grandchildren Mitchell (Shelby) Young and Austin (Brooke) Young, step-grandson Cole (Hailey) Taylor, step-granddaughter Kendra Bain, great-grandchildren Maks, Maddi and Carolina Grace Young, step-great-grandchildren Leyton and Lynlee Taylor, sisters Patsy Mullican, Marie Veal and Peggy (Lanny) Goodwin, sisters-in-law Dean Gay and Cindy (Michael) Cooper of Rock Island, brother-in-law Elton (Barbara) Dunlap of Rock Island, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2 in High’s Chapel with Drew Milligan and Kim Milligan officiating. Burial will follow at Old Bybee Chapel Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at High Funeral Home.
