5 Dead in Gay Nightclub Shooting in Colorado Springs – Gayety

At least five people are dead, and 18 are injured in a shooting at a gay nightclub in Colorado Springs.

The horrific incident occurred at Club Q, where police say multiple 911 calls came in just before midnight. Colorado Springs Police Lt. Pamela Castro says the gunman is believed to be in custody and is injured.

“They did locate one individual who we believe to be the suspect inside,” said Castro. “At this point in time, the suspect is being treated, but is in custody.” Castro added that the investigation is ongoing, and the number of victims is subject to change.

“Club Q is devastated by the senseless attack on our community,” the club wrote in a statement shared on Facebook. “Our prays and thoughts are with all the victims and their families and friends.

“We thank the quick reactions of heroic customers that subdued the gunman and ended this hate attack.”

This is not the first time someone has opened fire at a gay nightclub. In 2016, a gunman killed 49 people at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
