49ers vs. Rams final score, results: San Francisco spoils Odell Beckham Jr.’s LA debut – Sporting News

Matthew Stafford and the Rams’ offense couldn’t gain momentum against the 49ers on Monday night. LA has suffered back-to-back losses as a result. 

Stafford completed 26 of 41 passes for 243 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in the 31-10 defeat. The INTs, both by Jimmie Ward and one of them a pick-six, came 12 minutes apart in the first quarter. Stafford was also sacked twice, with Arden Key and Nick Bosa recording them.

49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo completed 15 of 19 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns. The first TD was to tight end George Kittle (five receptions, 50 yards) in the first quarter after Ward’s first interception. The second went to Deebo Samuel (five receptions, 97 yards) in the fourth quarter.

Ward’s pick-six, which came off a Tyler Higbee drop, gave San Francisco (4-5) a 14-0 lead.

Von Miller and Odell Beckham Jr. made their Rams debuts Monday night. Beckham made two catches for 18 yards, but Stafford overthrew him on Ward’s first interception. Miller made three total tackles and a tackle for loss.

Cooper Kupp led Los Angeles (7-3) with 11 receptions for 122 yards.

The Rams will have a bye in Week 11. They’ll return to face the Packers in Green Bay on Nov. 28. The 49ers will face the Jaguars in Jacksonville on Sunday.

11 p.m.:  Mitchell rushes for six consecutive plays but fails to get a first down with under a minute remaining. The 49ers turn the ball over and the Rams run out the clock. 

10:56 p.m.: FIELD GOAL, RAMS. Gay makes a 37-yard attempt following the sack. 49ers lead 31-10 with 3:48 remaining. After Gay makes a 9-yard onside kick, the 49ers take over at the 44. 

10:55 p.m.:  Stafford is sacked by Bosa at the 19 for a loss of 11 yards. 

10:51 p.m.:  Stafford completes to Michel for 9 yards and a roughing the passer penalty against San Francisco gives the Rams a first-and-goal at the 8.

10:48 p.m.:  The 49ers punt after Mitchell rushes for 1 yard on the drive. The Rams take over from the 48. 

10:41 p.m.:  Stafford throws consecutive incompletions and forces a turnover on downs. The 49ers take over from their 11 with six minutes remaining. 

10:37 p.m.:  Stafford is sacked by Key for a loss of 8 yards and gets pushed back to the 17. 

10:34 p.m.: Williams picks off a Stafford pass intended for Kupp but is called for pass interference, so the Rams get a first down at the San Francisco 23. 

10:32 p.m.: Stafford finds Kupp, who is pushed out at the 28 after a gain of 11 yards. 

10:27 p.m.: Stafford completes a pass down the middle to Higbee for 12 yards. Al-Shaair makes the stop at the Rams 33. 

10:23 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN, 49ERS. Garoppolo completes to Samuel, who runs it into the end zone for a 40-yard score. After the extra point, the 49ers lead 31-7 with 11:07 remaining. 

10:20 p.m.: Garoppolo completes to Samuel for 7 yards on second down. After Wilson rushes for no gain on third down, the 49ers take two timeouts before deciding to go for it on fourth down.

10:15 p.m.: The Rams punt after they fail to get past their 12. The 49ers will take over from the 44 to start the fourth quarter. 

10:12 p.m.: The 49ers punt after Garoppolo throws an incomplete pass intended for Kittle. The Rams start theie drive from their 9 with 53 seconds remaining in the third quarter. 

10:07 p.m.: After Garoppolo throws an incomplete pass, the 49ers take a timeout with 1:39 remaining in the third quarter. 

10:05 p.m.: Garoppolo finds Samuel for an 11-yard gain to the 41 and a first down. 

10 p.m.:  Hekker punts 42 yards after Kupp drops a pass from Stafford. The 49ers take over from their 27. 

9:56 p.m.: FIELD GOAL, 49ERS. Gould makes a 50-yard attempt to push the 49ers further in front. San Francisco leads 24-7 with 4:38 remaining in the third quarter. 

9:54 p.m.: Garoppolo throws his first incomplete pass of the night on third down. 

9:50 p.m.: Wilson is brought down by Miller and Donald for a loss of 6 yards. 

9:46 p.m.: Garoppolo completes to Samuel, who gains 19 to the Rams’ 40. 

9:42 p.m.: Hufanga bats down a pass intended to Henderson and forces the Rams to punt from their 37. 

9:40 p.m.:  Rapp sacks Garoppolo for a loss of 3 yards, forcing the 49ers’ first punt of the night. The Rams will begin their opening drive of the second half at their 20. 

9:37 p.m.:  Mitchell opens the second half with a 17-yard rush to give the 49ers a first down at their 40.

9:19 p.m.:  Rams fake a field-goal attempt as Bekker fires a short right pass to Blanton for a gain of two yards. Jones makes the stop and allows the 49ers to take over from the 15 with 12 seconds remaining in the half. 

9:16 p.m.:  Al-Shaair brings down Higbee for a loss of two yards to force third-and-13. 

9:13 p.m.:  Henderson rushes 11 yards to give the Rams a first down inside the 20 just before the two-minute warning. 

9:10 p.m.:  Stafford fires a deep pass to Jefferson and picks up 30 yards to give the Rams a first down at the 49ers’ 33. 

9:05 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN 49ERS.  Samuel rushes into the end zone for eight yards to complete a 91-yard drive and extend San Francisco’s lead. 49ers lead 21-7 with 5:24 remaining in the half. 

9:02 p.m.:  Garoppolo finds Aiyuk for a 20-yard gain and gives the 49ers a first and goal from the 8. 

8:59 p.m.:  Garoppolo completes to Samuel on the following play for a 20-yard gain. Mitchell picks up another 13 yards to give the 49ers a first down at the Rams’ 31. 

8:54 p.m.:  Aaron Donald makes the stop for the Rams on third down by bringing down Mitchell for a loss of two yards. After Floyd gets called for an offsides penalty, the 49ers convert for a first down at their own 22. 

8:50 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN RAMS.  Stafford fires a short pass up the middle to Higbee in the end zone for the score. Rams cut the 49ers’ lead 14-7 with 13:20 remaining in the half. 

8:45 p.m.:  Stafford completes to Beckham and runs to the 49ers 11 for a 13-yard gain.

8:38 p.m.: PICK-SIX, 49ERS.  A pass from Stafford bounces out of Higbee’s hands, and Ward is there to make the pick at the 27 and rushes into the end zone for the score. The interception marks Stafford’s fourth pick in two games. 49ers lead 14-0  with 49 seconds remaining in the first quarter. 

8:34 p.m.:  Andrew Whitworth gets called for a personal foul penalty that pushes the Rams back to their own 16. 

8:32 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN 49ERS.  Garoppolo fires a short right pass to Kittle to complete the 93-yard scoring drive. 49ers take a 7-0 lead with 1:54 remaining in the first quarter. 

8:26 p.m.:  Garoppolo keeps it on third down and rushes two yards to give the 49ers a first down at the Rams’ 39. 

8:22 p.m.:  Garoppolo finds Kittle at the first down marker and is pushed out of bounds at the 49ers’ 40 for an 18-yard gain. 

8:20 p.m.:  Von Miller makes his debut on defense alongside Aaron Donald and Leonard Floyd. 

8:19 p.m.: INTERCEPTION, 49ERS.  Stafford attempts a deep pass to Beckham, but Jimmie Ward picks it off at the 49ers’ 7. 

8:17 p.m.:  Stafford connects with Beckham Jr. on the opening pass for a five-yard gain. 

8:15 p.m.:  49ers win the coin toss and defer. Rams start with the ball at the 25.
